The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding during the first 6 months and continued breastfeeding for as long as possible.
Breast milk contains all the nutrients babies’ need, in addition to disease fighting bodies that protect against illness. Breast milk benefits extends into later stages in life. Not only does breast milk benefit the breastfed baby, but also benefits breastfeeding mothers.
There is no formula, and there will be no formula that will be exactly formulated as breast milk.
Formulas (such as Ronalac®) are designed to contain all ingredients that are nutritionally essential and vital for infants. It is recommended by the WHO to breastfeed, and to seek formula milk only if breastfeeding was not possible.
A balanced diet should contain right amount of essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fiber and water.
Combination feeding is accepted, but it could reduce your milk supply.
You should not feed your infant before he/she turns 4 months. You should look for signs to see if your infant is ready for solids. It was proven that feeding your infant before the first 6 months does not add any health and growth benefits.
There is no known trend or guidelines for switching from one formula brand to another. But there are recommendations that the shift should be gradual.
When it comes to Ronesca®’s products, the shift could be immediate. This is because of the high gastrointestinal tolerability the formulas possess, meaning there is no fear of producing colic or constipation. However, in very rare cases if there was incompatibility signs, the transition to could be done gradual.
It is not recommended to give infants cow’s milk as a main milk source. Yet it is okay to introduce little cow's milk in baby's food once he/she started eating solids.
- It can’t be completely digested as breast or formula milk.
- It can’t be easily digested as breast or formula milk.
- It is highly loaded with proteins and minerals which can exhaust baby's kidneys.
- The amount of iron, vitamin C, and other essential nutrients is not deliberate to suit babies. Cow’s milk can cause iron-deficiency anemia in some babies.
- The protein in cow’s milk can irritate the lining of the digestive system, leading to blood in stool (further loss of iron).
- It doesn’t contain the finest type of fat for babies.
- Its protein may cause allergies. The allergy can appear as: runny nose, wheezing or rash on the cheeks, frequent ear infections and diarrhea.
Introduce solids one at a time. Make (at least) a three day gap before introducing new food and start with small portions. This way you will easily determine which food was the cause of allergy.
Your healthcare provider will advise you if you should switch formula or not. Ronesca® offers Ronalac® Gentle, a super-gentle formula to avoid gas, colic and abdominal discomfort. Ronalac® Gentle reduces duration of crying and improves digestion and stool consistency.
It is advised to give fresh feeds for your baby and not to store unfinished bottles. This is because bacteria grows rapidly in formula milk and can still grow in a slower rate when refrigerated.
There is no need to store opened formula cans in the fridge. The shelf life of the can won’t be prolonged, and the formula powder might catch humidity.
Only your healthcare provider can determine whether your baby suffers from lactose intolerance.
It is advised to give your baby Ronalac® LF for at least 3-4 weeks and you may extend for 8 weeks. Even if the signs disappeared in the first three weeks, you should keep giving your baby Ronalac®LF. If you switch your baby to back to the regular formula before the 3 weeks, the probability of the recurrence of the symptoms is high.
Furthermore, it is important to convert your baby to the regular formula, Ronalac® 1 or Ronalac® 2, if your baby doesn’t suffer from congenital lactose intolerance. Lactose is vital for brain and is considered as a source of energy for infants.
You should always consult your physician before switching from and to any formula.
You should give your baby Ronalac® AC for 2 weeks or until the constipation completely disappears. Ronalac® AC can be given from birth onward and for longer than 2 weeks as long as your baby didn’t experience and signs.
You should always consult your physician before switching from and to any formula.
You can keep giving Ronalac® AR until the regurgitation resolves. Ronalac® AC can be given from birth onward, and can continue to be given for as long as your baby didn’t experience and signs.
You should always consult your physician before switching from and to any formula.
You can give your baby Ronalac® Gentle for 3 to 4 weeks.
Ronalac® Gentle can be given from birth onward, and can continue to be given it for as long as your baby didn’t experience and signs.
You should always consult your physician before switching from and to any formula.
Ronalac® HA can be given from birth onward, and can continue to be given it for as long as your baby didn’t experience and signs. You may stop giving Ronalac® HA when allergy signs completely disappears.
You should always consult your physician before switching from and to any formula.
Hypolait can be given from birth onward, and can continue to be given it for as long as your baby didn’t experience and signs. You may stop giving Hypolait® when allergy signs completely disappears.
You should always consult your physician before switching from and to any formula.
At 1 year, children start showing signs of appetite decline. It is normal but should not be disregarded.
You can give your children 2-3 cups of Exceeda® to supply them with all the necessary nutrients for optimum growth and development and to increase their appetite towards food.
Follow these tips:
Be a positive role model by eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables
When offering new nutritious foods that you child did not accept, don’t give up. Offer them again and again for 10 times.
Never praise children with food especially sweets.
Praise your children when they try a healthy new food.
Serve vegetables as a first course, so that your child doesn’t get full and skip them.
Make fruits and vegetables visually appealing by cutting them into attractive shapes and combining different colors in the same plate.
Serve one new food at a time along with another type of food that your child already like.
Start by giving relatively small portions of each food then gradually add more. Offer one tablespoon of each new food per year of child’s age, then you can serve more.
Make mealtimes free from distractions like toys, TV and tablets.
Make mealtimes a family thing. Children learn about food from their parents and through imitation.

Prebiotics are non-digestible plant fibers that stimulate the production of microbiota "beneficial bacteria" in the colon and gastrointestinal track
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) prebiotics are part of many of Ronesca®’s products (including, Ronalac®, Ronagrow®, Exceeda® and Ronameal®….).
FOS have many benefits including:
- Improves digestion
- Enhances absorption of minerals such as iron, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium (maintains mineral density and bone strength)
- Boost intestinal immunity: prevents overgrowth of infectious organisms, inflammation and diarrhea
- Relieves constipation and irritable bowel
- Produces essential nutrients such as short-chain fatty acids
- Can guard against cancer
Ronesca®’s experts in France had created a special blend of ingredients to boost the immune system.
It is advisable to continue to sterilize until your baby turns 1 year.
If your new born is healthy, well-fed and cries more than 3 hours a day, more than 3 days a week, for more than 3 weeks then most probably your baby has infantile colic.
Yes you can, but you should do it with care.
You can continue breastfeeding if you have flu. Even if you have the flu, breast milk continue to transfers disease-fighting antibodies that help build baby's immune system.
Yet you have to take extra precautions to protect your baby from your germs. The safest option is to pump your milk and limit contact with your baby by asking someone else to bottle-feed your baby.
Additional precautions you could follow:
- Wash your hands with soap and warm water before touching or holding your baby.
- Wear a face mask.
- Sneeze or cough into your inner elbow or a tissue and throw the tissue away. Wash your hands afterwards.
- Don't share eating utensils, drinking glasses, towels, beds, pillows, or blankets until the symptoms are gone for at least five days.
- Don’t put your baby on your bed during sleep and limit contact during daytime.
The best way to increase your milk supply is through continued feeding. The more you feed, the more milk you will produce.
You can use the pump that suits you. Electrical pumps are faster and easier. Manual pumps are a better choice if you are out of batteries or electric supply and are noise free.
Home remedies to reduce your child’s fever:
- Give your child a bath, using lukewarm water (never use cold water to reduce fever), and/or place a cool and damp washcloth.
The best places to place the cloth are: the sides of the neck, underarms and between legs. - Let your child drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. If you are breastfeeding (or bottle feeding), continue to do so.
- For non-infants, offer small amounts of food regularly to keep up his/her energy.
- Dress your child in one lightweight layer of clothing.
- Give your toddler a fever-reducing medication (consult your doctor).
- Ask your doctor if your child needs antibiotics.
Some babies do not crawl at all. Also, some children develop their milestones at different paces especially those born prematurely.
Babies start walking while holding on to furniture at around 9 months. Most babies walk independently between 12 months and 15 months.
Children develop their milestones at different paces. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
- At 13-18 months: Says 10 words
- At 19-24 months: Says 50+ words
- At 24-36 months: Says 300-500 words.
Each toddler develop their milestones at different paces. If you have any concerns, contact your physician or speech therapist.
If your baby continues to thumb suck after he/she turns one year, and if the sucking was intense and the frequency was high, then yes thumb sucking will cause harm.
Thumb sucking can push the teeth outwards and make the thumb sore and sometimes bleed.
